Blogs/Wikis - how can they work in your classroom?

Now that you know a little bit about wikis and blogs, think about how you might use one of these Web 2.0 tools with  your students.

  2. I could use a blog for an on-line journal entry response to the question of the day or problem of the day instead of having students write pencil/paper.

  3. So many different ways! With Wikis, I really liked how you can make drawings talk! My art students would LOVE that!

  4. I can't wait to have that much technology available to us at our Elementary school! The students are all actively engaged. This is an awesome way to differentiate instruction.

  5. Now I know how to add pictures to my principal BLOG. I can see where a Wiki would be a better option for me to put the elements on a page in the order I would like.

  6. I recently had the students working on a project in class, one of the options was to make a blog/wiki. I had two students choose to do this, and both ended up using blogger to do their projects. I plan on setting up a class blog or wiki in the future.

  7. Whatever I do I'll need to start with something easy...too much to take in. Maybe kidblog. (Kids will probably teach me!)

  8. I could use a wiki page in my classroom to attach any notes or assignments for students when they are absent or when they need extra time to look over the materials. Students could benfit from looking back over the notes if they had questions. I could also post a calendar so students know what upcoming assignments, projects, or tests we have.

  9. We have been learning about Canada and the Winter Olympics. We could post information we are learning and keep track of the medal count. Questions could have been asked for others to answer.

  10. I like the idea of incorporating wikis and blogs. I believe that the major thing holding me back is simply not understanding how all of this works. I will definitely be working on this during the summer. Another hurdle is access to enough computers. I like the idea of posting assignment's online and allowing parents to see if the assignment is completed or not.

  11. I frequently record students in class- singing segments of pieces we are working on. I'd like to share these with the class and with parents on a blog. I'd also like to post announcements of upcoming concerts and audition dates, etc. I'd like to share photos of classsroom activities.

  12. I think this would be an excellent way to get student feedback on songs we are practicing. It also would be a quick reminder of upcoming events for students and provide long range planning for parents. Working with a large group does not give opportunity for many people comment during class, so this would be an excellent tool to have students share.
