I am planning on posting the character pages project that I am working on with 8th graders for the novel, The Outsiders. I sent out a description sheet with rubric already to the students via i-chat. Mindy and I have talked already how I will grade this as it is 4 character sheets X 46 students. I think I will have them grade each other and then have them send the project to me via i-chat and only chose one sheet to grade-but give them the full points for completing the other pages. We are getting close to finishing the novel, so I will keep you posted on how it is looking.
ReplyDeleteI hope to create lessons on the smartboard to go along with Do the Math. I had one training in Do the Math and am currently using the program with a couple third graders who are struggling in math. I can see where there will be a lot of potential lessons that could be enriched by using the smart board. There are a lot of scripted lessons where I need to draw, or write on the board, so why not use the smart board. Now, if it were only working....
ReplyDeleteI would like to continue working on my class web page and make it more usable for students and their parents. I would like to have a blog for students that goes along with class units. I would like to use Photo Booth and video tape student projects so that students can share with their parents and family members.
ReplyDeleteEssential concept and skill: Read for a variety of purposes and across content areas. Students will have to read non-fiction text to gather information about their social studies project and then post comments on our class blog and eventually put their video online to share with others.
I am developing a unit of research over the Ancient Romans for my 6th grade social studies class. Researching on the internet is difficult for 6th grade for many reasons, so to help students out I will give them some websites that I feel will be helpful using furby.com. I plan to send the furby websites to the students using iChat. After the students get their note taking information they will use Keynote and create a project to share with their class over Ancient Rome.
ReplyDeleteI am hoping to use the fur.ly idea to include in my Christmas Around the World study in December. Using that will help to give my students direction on where to go find the information needed. In the past they had to do searching on their own and sometimes that was not beneficial to the them. They would get lost in the search and forget the direction they were suppose to be going. As part of their group presentation they will be using Keynote to present their informaton.
ReplyDeleteI have several ideas in mind. One idea is to create a web page for first grade. It would include curriculum, activities, spelling words, etc. I would also like to post the students work by video and or pictures.
ReplyDeleteThe other idea I have is to create lessons for the Smart Board. I would like several lessons for math, writing, reading, and spelling.
I am preparing a unit over Otzi the Iceman for my 6th grade science class. Students will collect data regarding this mummy via furby.com and present it to the class through a pod cast, comic life, keynote, prezi, etc.
ReplyDeleteI would like to create some interactive units using keynote and the Smart Board. I want the students to use photo booth to help create the pages. I would like to begin with making a lesson video about the pillars of education and our PBIS rules. I would also like them to help create pages for a unit on all the sounds we learn in our Jolly Phonics lessons.
ReplyDeleteI would like to use the flip camera to make social stories for kids who need them. That way they can watch them daily, instead of reading them to them when they need them. This way they can do the social stories themselves.
ReplyDeleteI would also like to develop a Reading Recovery website.
I will be making I-Movies with my first grade students to work on their fluency. They will write a story using Keynote, then narrate it themselves. I had intended to do this in Keynote but was advised that it might make for easier editing if it was moved to I-Movie. I will experiment with these different programs to see what will work better with the kids.
ReplyDeleteI would like to make a blog for my middle school tech students. I will use it to post a new technology vocabulary word for the students to define each class. I will also post questions relating to the technology application we are working on. The students will reflect on their learning and ask questions. I am going to use Kids Blog because I can check their blog posts before the are allowed to publish them.
